THE HAPPY DOODLES COMMUNITY PHOTOSHOOT - A creative evening and fundraiser

This is a very special, invite-only Happy Doodling evening for people who have previously attended one of my workshops.

I've recently moved into a beautiful new workshop venue, and I need your help!

I'm creating new photographs and videos to share Happy Doodling with more people, and I'd much rather fill the room with familiar faces than hire models. If you've been to one of my workshops before, you'll already know the relaxed, playful atmosphere I'm hoping to capture.

What to expect

This won't be a typical Happy Doodling workshop.

I'll have all the usual paints, pens, stamps and creative materials ready for you to enjoy, but rather than teaching throughout the session, I'll be busy taking photographs and filming little moments of people creating together.

You can expect plenty of time to play, experiment, chat and make art at your own pace.

Occasionally I may ask if you'd mind:

  • moving to a different table
  • holding up your artwork
  • smiling at the camera
  • recreating a moment for a photo or short video
  • joining a group shot

Nothing will be overly posed or formal. My aim is simply to capture the genuine joy, creativity and connection that happens naturally during Happy Doodling sessions.

Please don't worry if you're a little camera shy—there'll be absolutely no pressure, and if there's a particular photo you'd rather not be included in, just let me know.

A creative evening that gives back

Instead of charging for the event, I'm asking for a minimum donation of £10.

Every penny raised will go directly towards supporting Leena, Muhammad, Hala and little Eileen, a family in Gaza whom I've been helping for two years. If you'd like to know more about this family you can read more on the dedicated fundraiser page I've set up here.

Your donation will help them pay the rent for the room they're living in and buy food during incredibly difficult circumstances.

If you'd like to give more, you can choose one of the higher donation options when booking, or donate directly through the dedicated fundraiser page above, but this is not an expectation, it's just there if you want it. Every extra pound makes such a difference.

Venue

The bright, spacious workshop room above the Steam Crane Pub
North Street, Southville

Spaces are limited

This is a small, invite-only event, so booking is essential.

You are welcome to bring along a friend who is new to Happy Doodling and children who have previously attended are very welcome too.

I'd absolutely love to spend another creative evening with you while creating something that will help Happy Doodling grow and support a family who truly need our help.

Thank you so much for being part of this lovely Happy Doodling community.

FAQ

Do I need any art skills/experience?

Nope! This workshop is all about play and is for EVERYONE! There’s no right or wrong way to do it, and no expectation of skill level.

You will be messing about with all sorts of very simple mixed-media techniques - all of which will be demonstrated to you. And I will be on hand to help if you need some encouragement.

I feel a bit nervous about coming on my own?

Many people come to this club on their own, and many of them feel nervous - it's completely normal.

I've intentionally created a warm, relaxed, pressure free atmosphere - no forced sharing or intense introductions and no expectations to be confident or chatty.

The art making will naturally give you something to talk about if you’d like to — but there is absolutely no pressure to be social in a way that feels uncomfortable.

You can simply sit, sip your tea and quietly doodle if that feels good.

If you would feel more comfortable arriving a little early to settle in, you’re very welcome.

Whatever your worry, just message me and i'll do everything in my power to make you feel comfortable 💛

Do I need to bring anything with me?

No. All the materials will be provided. Just bring your curiosity. It's not a particularly messy workshop (small amount of painting but mostly pen and stamp work) but don't wear your best clothes if you're worried!

What's the food/drink situation?

You can bring whatever food/drink you like with you and most venues I can supply tea and coffee (just a kettle coffee i'm afraid)

Some venues have cafe facilities:

Hamilton House has the Canteen Bar and a cafe downstairs and you are more than welcome to bring up a proper coffee, beer, cocktail, whatever you fancy!

Is there any parking?

Parking will vary for each venue - your Ticket Email will contain more details. Please be aware that you may need to pay the Clean Air Zone charge depending on the age of your car and the area you are driving to/from.

  • HOURS - Colston Yard, has limited metered road parking near by and Trenchard Street NCP multi-story car park is 4 minutes away.
  • Hamilton House - Stokes Croft, has metered road parking in and around the area. You may also have to pay the CAZ charge depending on your car and where you are coming from.
  • L'etoile Studio - On street metered parking directly outside the venue.
Can I get a refund?

If you can no longer come to the workshop and would like a refund, please give me 7 days notice so that I can fill the spot. After the 7 days i'll be happy for you to transfer your ticket, either to a friend or to a new workshop date. Please get in touch with me as soon as possible on my contact page so we can work it out.

Is there an age restriction?

The social club has been put together with adults in mind but i'm happy for children aged 10+ to join in too. If you want a much younger child to join in, just get in touch first via my Contact Page so we can chat and make sure it will be appropriate for them.

Parent & Child Workshops have been designed with children in mind - it's a slightly longer session and will go at a slower pace with a little extra guidance. I have no official age restriction because every child is different, but i'd suggest age 6+. Get in touch on my Contact Page if you aren't sure.

How accessible is the workshop space?

This varies from venue to venue and i'd advise you to contact the venue yourself if you have any specific questions or requirements. I can give a brief overview below:

HOURS - Street level, washroom has disability access

Hamilton House: On the second floor accessible by lift or stairs.

L'etoile Studio: Ground level. The room is fairly narrow though and might be awkward for a wheelchair user, but get in touch and I will make sure I can accommodate you.
