STUDIO TOUR

Welcome!

Welcome!

Welcome to my little haven of colour and creativity! I feel very fortunate to have such a colourful, inspiring, light filled space at home that I can dedicate to my art practice. And make as much mess as I like! It's by far my favourite room in the house.

But it wasn’t always like this. This space used to be anything but inspiring. It was dark, damp, cold and unused (other than housing the cat bowls) with a moss-covered glass roof that barely let in any light. The walls bore the evidence of a burst pipe, leaving horrid stains and a lingering smell of damp. Even the cat seemed unimpressed.

Still, i've always had a knack of making ugly things more beautiful and was determined to turn this forgotten space into my dream art studio. Watch the transformation in the 20 second video below - including neon yellow doors and a neon pink stool!

My Tools And Materials

My Tools And Materials

I get so excited by all the different art materials and techniques available to me that I want to use them ALL! This is why I am most definitely a Mixed Media artist. I do have favourites though:

  • Fluid acrylics: For those dreamy, flowy, watercolor effects.
  • Heavy-body acrylics: Because sometimes you just need thick, textured marks that scream confidence.
  • Big, flat brushes: Perfect for creating juicy textures. I’ve even made a few giant brush tools myself.
  • Squirty bottles: These are a new obsession. They add such random, energetic marks—it’s like letting the paint have a little dance of its own.
  • Paint spreaders (aka colour shapers and catalyst blades): For smooth, transparent layers that glide across the canvas.
  • Stencils: I love designing my own stencils to add bold, graphic shapes and layers of texture.
  • Spray paints: To create tonal gradients and misty, atmospheric shapes.
  • Fat marker pens and Oil sticks: For energetic scribbles!

It was important to me to fill my studio with the things I love most to fuel my creativity and keep me inspired....

Artwork
One of my favorite corners of the studio is the shelf I’ve dedicated to displaying artwork. It’s an ever-changing gallery of pieces—some of my own creations and many collected from other artists whose work I admire. I regularly switch up the display, and it’s a constant source of inspiration and joy.

Plants
As someone who loves gardening and being surrounded by nature, plants were a must in my studio. They bring a sense of calm, improve the mood of the space, and make it feel alive and fresh.

Colourful Art Materials
I’m a big believer in keeping my materials out on display rather than hidden away in cupboards or boxes. To me, they’re beautiful objects in their own right, and seeing them laid out on my shelves often sparks fresh ideas. Having my paints, pens, and tools visible is a constant reminder of what’s possible and keeps my creative energy flowing.

Now, this space isn’t just my studio; it’s my happy place!

Colour is my medicine and most mornings, you’ll find me sitting in here with my coffee, soaking up a big dose of colour and light.

I love visitors so if you would like to visit my studio and have a cuppa and a dose of colour medicine then get in touch!
