1. Colour Sets the Mood
Have you ever noticed how a deep blue room feels instantly cosy and cocooning? Or how a pop of sunshine yellow makes you smile? Or how a zingy neon gives you a little jolt of positive energy? (Hence my neon obsession!) That’s because colour is a mood maker!
If I had to pick one colour to live with I think it would be pink because it simultaneously grounds me AND uplifts me. I love soft pinks on the walls of my home for its lovely, glowing energy and for its versatility and how it can pair with almost any other colour (kind of like a neutral but SO much better than beige!!) and my vibrant art looks great hanging against it. I have painted my workspace top to bottom in pink (and my doors acid yellow obvs!) because it makes me feel so warm, happy and inspired. And I also use pink, be it baby pink or neon pink, in almost every piece of art I make!
2. Colour Soothes Stress
I think it's so important that we can escape to a space that soothes us. I'm a sensitive girl and can often feel quite anxious. You might think that pale and minimal surroundings would soothe me but it can actually have the opposite affect. A room devoid of colour and interest just makes me feel a bit annoyed quite frankly! My soul NEEDS colour to feel calm and happy. A balance of soft, comforting hues (light pinks, baby blues, turquoise and lilacs) along with some contrasting, more vibrant pops (neon yellow, hot pink, bright red) for a jolt of uplifting energy is the perfect recipe for feeling good! Even if i'm not making art i will often just sit in my studio space and surround myself with bright uplifting colour and art. It feels like a little burst of sunshine, no matter how grey the day feels.

3. Colour Sparks Creativity
Beige and magnolia are pretty uninspiring no? My art studio was the dreariest space until I revamped it with fresh white and some juicy pops of yellow and pink on the doors and furniture. Adding bold, energising colours to your home or workspace can completely shift your mindset, sparking fresh ideas and lifting your energy levels. My work spaces are literally filled to the rafters with colourful artworks that I have collected over time, they always help ignite creativity and make me feel alive.
Sometimes, when i do feel creatively stuck, I take to my desk and make these small playful 'doodle' artworks full of joyful colours like pinks, yellow, turquoise and orange. They never fail to spark new ideas and uplift my mood. Check out the joyful, little pieces in my Happy Doodles Collection they all look really cute on a shelf or mantle and will make you smile!
4. Colour is Memory in Action
Colour has this magical way of connecting us to our happiest memories. Many of my artworks use colour to draw on joyful memories and experiences - the juicy sweetie colours used in my Sweet As Collection evoke the playful, freedom of childhood (and the excitement of a bag of sweets!) Whereas my Club Collection, full of bold brights and popping neons is inspired by memories of fun nights dancing with friends in clubs and festivals. Colourful artwork allows you to invite those happy feelings into your space, every single day.
